This iconic annual celebration, held from June 30th through July 4th, is one of the most storied rodeos in the world, and we appreciate your desire to share the excitement with your audience. To ensure a smooth experience, please read through the information below and complete the application for media credentials.
Application Process
All media professionals requesting credentials for this event must submit an application prior to the event by June 1st. Space is limited, and applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
Who Qualifies for Media Credentials?
Media credentials are available to individuals representing legitimate media outlets, including:
- Print and online publications (newspapers, magazines, blogs)
- Television and radio stations
- Freelance journalists
- Photographers and videographers with established media organizations
- Accredited social media influencers focused on rodeo, Western culture, or related topics.
All media must submit a letter of assignment to be approved.
Credentials are issued exclusively to working members of the media covering the event for editorial purposes. Marketing, public relations, or commercial representatives will not be credentialed as media.
Media Credential Access Includes:
- General Admission: Access to the Cody Stampede Rodeo and PRCA Xtreme Bulls events during the specified dates.
- Press Areas: Limited access to designated media zones including photo platforms and announcers booth.
- Interviews & Press Conferences: Opportunities to interview rodeo participants, event organizers, and key figures. Special access may be arranged with approval.
- Event Photography/Videography: Permission to photograph or film the event as outlined by the rodeo’s media policies. Note: Commercial or promotional use of images or video must be approved separately by Cody Stampede Board of Directors, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA).
Application Requirements
All applicants are required to provide the following information:
- Full name, organization name, and title
- Contact information (phone number, email, and mailing address)
- A brief description of your media outlet (including audience size and demographics)
- Coverage plans (how you intend to cover the event—i.e., articles, photo spreads, social media updates, etc.)
- Links to recent coverage of similar events (if applicable)
- For photographers and videographers, please specify the type of equipment you will be using
Terms & Conditions
By applying for media credentials, you agree to the following:
1. Use of Credentials: Credentials are for the exclusive use of the individual to whom they are issued. Sharing or transferring credentials is prohibited.
2. Rights to Use: All media produced during the Cody Stampede Rodeo and PRCA Xtreme Bulls must be used strictly for editorial purposes. Commercial use of photos or video requires prior approval.
3. Respect of Participants & Spectators: Media representatives must respect all event contestants, staff, and spectators at all times, adhering to safety protocols and event policies.
4. Deadline for Submission: Applications must be submitted by June 1st annually. Late submissions may not be considered.
5. Acceptance Notification: Applicants will be notified of their credential status by June 10th. If approved, further instructions for credential pick-up will be provided.
